Cubix laser level STHT77499 started flashing 3 times. No clues in manual.

I have a Cubix STHT77499 laser level. Last week when using it on a perfectly level base, and after 20 mins it suddently started flashing 3 times every 4-5 seconds. It was on locked position. There is nothing about three flashes in the manual. The only flashing is on/off when not on a surface less that 4 degrees (which still works).
I have changed the batteries for fresh duracell ones. no difference.
I have tried the calibration. The horizontal seems fine, though betwen unlocked and locked the level jumps around 6cm at a distance of 5 metres.
I have not dropped it. I have only used it twice since buying it last July - once outside and once inside. The rest of times it is stored off in a cupboard.
I sent a request to stanley on Monday - and by Friday no reply or acknowledgement from them. Massively disappointed.
Does anyone have any idea what is wrong? (before I return it to Screwfix and get a Bosch one!) Thanks

Hi Deeris Slice Master Remove the batteries, leave the device off for 10 minutes, and then reinsert the batteries. This might reset any internal glitches.
