40V Hedge Trimmer (LHT2240)

When I charge battery, it gives blinking green for a split second (meaning starts to charge), then switches to fast blinking red, and does not charge.  I think battery has gone defective after just 2 uses.  Any suggestions?

  I have 83 large shrubs and it trimmed all of them on one charge. Plenty of power to cut. Best thing no cord in my way. Flappy Bird
