I have a new cordless hand planer and I do not like something about it. The sole has a milled texture. This causes friction and also deflects the motion as it slides over the workpiece.

I'm very interested if this is just my tool or if others have this on their machines.

And am I missing something? A plane sole should be smooth to slide over a workpiece. No?
